Psychological clutter

‘Old friends are like stuff in your garage, psychological clutter left over from a time when you were like them’

Ramji, Trout Lake, Panchadasi.

This is a constantly evolving value to manage – I like my old friends, and have fun with them, but for sure I’m not my full self with them since I’ve changed so much, and who I am now as a jiva does not conform to what makes them comfortable.  I then decide if it’s worth showing up in a way that makes them comfortable, or not. If not, I simply allow the friendship to fade away – no upsetting the apple cart unless it’s absolutely necessary, which it seldom is.
